The Power of Small Wins: How Leaders, Coaches & Entrepreneurs Build Real Momentum

April 12, 20255 min read

Real growth—whether it’s building wealth, healing your marriage, crushing goals, or rebuilding your confidence—doesn’t always start with a new course or the next self-help book. Sometimes, it begins with something simpler:

Slowing the heck down and actually seeing yourself.

I work with leaders, entrepreneurs, go-getters, and action-takers every day. And you know what I see?

Too many of you are stuck in grind mode, chasing what everyone else is doing.
👏 You’re clapping for them.
📱 You’re watching their highlight reels.
📈 You’re following their formulas.
But you’re not stopping to clap for yourself.

It’s like you believe celebrating your wins is selfish, arrogant, or unproductive.

Enough of that.
Today, we flip the script.

Old-school handshake. Fist bump. Whatever it takes—we’re making a pact right now:

👉 You’re going to start seeing your wins.
👉 You’re going to start owning them.
👉 And you’re going to stack them like fuel.

Because the truth is, those tiny wins you ignore?
They’re everything.

Why Small Wins Matter More Than You Think

Here’s the deal:
Some people only take action when they’re in pain.
They wait until things break down before they make a move.

But what if you stopped letting pain be your fuel—and started using progress instead?

Over the years, I’ve worked with some of the boldest leaders out there. The second they stopped spinning in their chaos and started stacking their wins? Game over.

That’s when the shift happens.
That’s when momentum kicks in.
That’s when real growth begins.

Let’s Talk About Small Wins

So what exactly are small wins?

They’re the quiet drumbeat of progress.
They’re the moments no one sees.
The things you don’t post about.
The ones that don’t get applause—but should.

📌 Making your bed.
📌 Finally answering that email.
📌 Choosing to listen instead of react.
📌 Reading one Bible verse in the middle of your mental chaos.
📌 Walking away from your teenager’s meltdown instead of escalating it.

Those are wins.
And every one of them is a deposit in your momentum bank.

Why They Pack a Punch

Small wins aren’t fluff. They rewire your brain.

Each time you acknowledge a win, your brain logs a message:
“Hey, I can do this.”
That creates confidence, fuels motivation, and unlocks creativity.

It literally interrupts survival mode and reminds your nervous system, “You’re okay. You’re capable. You’re making progress.”

Even if your brain is stuck in neutral from stress, burnout, or trauma—you can start here.
Not everyone is ready for a huge breakthrough.
But everyone can spot a win.

That’s why, when I coach people, I don’t start by teaching or correcting—I just ask:
“What’s a WIN for today?”

And most of them freeze. Because they’ve trained their brains to only see the chaos—not the progress.

But we can retrain that. That’s where coaching changes everything.

Real-World Wins That Count

Let me make this clear:

If you did any of the following today, you already won:

✅ You didn’t yell
✅ You answered that hard text
✅ You put your phone down during dinner
✅ You prayed instead of panicking
✅ You got out of bed when you didn’t feel like it
✅ You walked away from drama
✅ You drank water instead of soda
✅ You posted the dang Reel
✅ You had the hard conversation
✅ You showed up when it was easier to hide

THAT is progress. That is leadership. That is growth.

How to Start Spotting Your Wins

If this feels unnatural for you—you’re not alone.
But the more you practice, the easier it gets.

Here’s how to start:

🔹 Reflect
Take 5 minutes at the end of the day. What did you do well—even if it was routine? Say it out loud. Write it. Whisper it. But acknowledge it.

🔹 Celebrate
Not with cake (unless that’s your thing). Just smile. Fist bump the mirror. Literally say, “Good job.”
Yes, it feels weird. And yes, it works.

🔹 Share It
With your coach. Your spouse. Your team. Your kids.
(Some of the most powerful moments come from modeling this in front of your children.)

Will everyone understand it? Nope.
But share it anyway.

Not everyone has the lens to celebrate you—but a good coach will.
That’s why I teach this to every coach I train.

Why Celebrating Wins Works

It Builds Confidence
You stop looking for outside validation and start acknowledging yourself.

🔥 It Creates Momentum
One win leads to another. Then another. Suddenly, you’re moving again.

It Sparks Motivation
You stop waiting to feel like it and start taking action. That energy is contagious.

Win Like a Pro—Your Way, Not Theirs

Let’s get one thing straight:
Your wins don’t have to look like anyone else’s.

This isn’t about following someone else’s celebration method.
It’s about owning what actually works for you.

Here are a few simple ways to make celebrating wins part of your rhythm:

🔹 Journal It
One sentence. That’s it. Write “I showed up today.” That counts.

🔹 Text Yourself
Hype yourself up. “Nice work handling that convo.” Yes, you can do this.

🔹 Voice Notes
Record your wins. Playback later. This is a goldmine for verbal processors.

🔹 Reward Yourself
Coffee, a walk, a guilt-free scroll break. You earned it.

🔹 Create a “Win Chat”
Drop daily wins into a text thread or group. It builds community and contagious energy.

🌀 Repeat it daily.
Momentum thrives on consistency and accountability.

Obstacles? Yeah, You’ll Face ‘Em

Setbacks Will Come
Bad days happen. When they do, look back at your wins. Let them remind you of your growth.

Inconsistency Happens
You’ll miss a day. Don’t quit. Rebuild the habit. Set reminders. Make it part of your routine.

Final Word: Keep Freakin’ Growing

You want to grow? Start small.
You want to win? Start now.

💥 You don’t need to be perfect. You need to be present.

Keep setting goals.
Keep showing up.
Keep seeing your own progress—even when no one else does.

Because you, my friend, are already winning.

You don’t have to wait for applause.
You don’t need the algorithm to notice you.
You don’t need permission.

You just need to own your win—out loud.

So let’s go. 👊
Start today. Start small.
And remember…

You’re not just growing. You’re winning.
